We made it to Homer yesterday afternoon and have a campsite out on the spit. The spit refers to a small strip of land extending out into the Kachemak Bay. See this Google Map reference.

The scenery here is magnificent and photos just do not convey reality. Here is a photo we took last night as the sun was setting.

The followint photo shows our motorhome parked at our site with the mountains in the background.

We came out of the motorhome yesterday and were surprised to find an eagle sitting on the lamp pole behind our site.

It has been raining all morning and the weather man says the rain could continue all day. Don't expect to do much outside today but plan to eat at a local restaurant that serves fresh sea food everyday. One of the big attractions here in Homer is the fishing and halibut are caught in the bay each day.
