Diamond Lake

We left the coast yesterday morning and made our way to Diamond Lake in the Southern Cascade Mountains. Our campsite at the coast was 21 feet above sea level and our site at Diamond Lake is 5237 feet. When we arrived it was 69 degrees and this morning at sunrise it was 33 degrees. This is an excellent location for visiting Crater Lake National Park and that is the plan of the day. Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the US at 1943 feet and the surface is 6178 feet above sea level.

The next photo is a composite of Diamond Lake with Mt Bailey in the background. The elevation of Mt Bailey is 8376 feet and in the opposite direction is Mt Thielsen at 9183 feet.
